The 11-member State Board of Education is California’s Ok-12 coverage-making body for educational standards, curriculum, educational materials, assessments and accountability. All common and particular conferences of the Board are open to the general public except those which can be “closed periods.” Below the Ralph M. Brown Act, Government Code 54950, these particular closed meetings may be scheduled for such things as pupil disciplinary actions, pending litigation, worker negotiations, and threat of safety.
Such guidelines cover the supervision and governance of the state’s 2,500 public schools, which serve 1.38 million college students. The Board of Schooling is the governing body of the District, and shall govern the District in such a way that it units the national standard for governance, oversight, public engagement and stewardship of the general public training system.
